The Suffolk-based artist, Annie Rice, used to run inspirational classes in ink painting, watercolour, collage, etc., but has sadly had to stop in order to concentrate on her own work. One of her workshops looked at painting without a brush – using fingers, sticks, wadded bits of paper, sponges, even broken credit cards – which is where I produced this painting of a sunflower. This is the joy of artists’ workshops: discovering something that would never have occurred to you at home and being able to produce a half-way decent piece of work under their expert eyes.
