Fishing (A5 sketchbook page, mixed media and Swedish stamp, 2015)
I don’t have much to say about this. It has an Ellis Nadler sort of feel and the Swedish stamp is rather splendid. So, as I’m about to leave for the Frankfurt Book Fair, here’s a bit of Goethe for you:
Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back – concerning all acts of…creation, there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no-one could have dreamed would have come their way.
Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now.
A very happy Tuesday to you.
The composition leads my eye back round again – and the horizon line area is a wonderful colour mix!

Such a genius way to use that stamp in your art! The last paragraph of the Goethe quote is inspirational!

Thanks very much. I actually started with the stamp this time. It was too good not to use.

Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now. THIS is worth repeating. So many people think up awesome inspired ideas but rarely follow through and complete them. Thanks for your wisdom 🙂

Thanks very much. Not really my wisdom though, but good old Goethe and my partner Sarah who pointed out to me. I’m just the willing and appreciative messenger.

Well no point reinventing the wheel right? Yes it is good to be reminded of the simple things in life. Recently I boldly pushed forward completely against my inner self to stage my first photo exhibition! And I was so pleased I did! This piece of advice reminded me of that. Thanks and have a great day 🙂 xx

Yep, it almost seems to sense the inevitable outcome of heading for that Swedish stamp.

I love this! And that is a really powerful quote. A timely one, too – I feel like in my own recent explorations with ink, committing myself to what I’m creating makes all the difference in whether or not it really comes together. And as in art, so in life.
I love your blog so far, and I’m looking forward to more!

Thanks ever so much, Akire. That quote from Goethe does seem to have touched a number of people. Sometimes we just have to be told to do it, don’t we?
